It Took Loss

It Took Tragedy

It took tragedy

– that fire of obscurity –

to finally reveal

the truth embedded within:

It took tragedy

– that face of death’s content –

to finally show

the union of myriad lives within:

It took loss

– that death where love once lived –

to finally present

the messages of life’s meaning within:

It took loss

– that all consuming fire –

to finally elaborate

the embodiments of fate’s desire within:

It took tragedy

– that ominous death in life –

to finally show

the latent mysteries of the heart within:

It took tragedy

– that all consuming fire of obscurity –

to finally reveal

the truth held within:

“Love is written on the walls of this house.”

* this poem is the first I have been able to write since tragedy struck my family, sorry for the delay, but building up life again after a fire consumes your house and kills a family member can take some time.
