Day 18 – On A Night Such As This

On A Night

It was on a night

such as this – red wine, blue jazz –

that I met him for the first time.

He came to me from

a dear friend’s recommendation

claiming to have drunk

the wine of unity needed

my bearings to be steady –

but unable to help – we both fell

into the deep, deep glass of wholeness

It was on a night

such as this – heated blood, cool heart

that I came across him

He entered my protected world

with an unarming force

claiming to reside in

the night river’s room, forever

abiding to the forces of the moon

and then he threatened to take

me into unknown eddies of

a whirlwind faith

It was on a night

such as this, hot movements, icy thoughts

that they encountered me

and we became the stony edifice

of a night well lived, lingering in love

and fostering life upon

the holy mountains covered

with the cedar forests; we purified

the night so that

the maligned moon could shine

bright again – merely by

purifying ourselves first.

Day 17 – Uniquely One

Al-Ahad

The goal here

as the mystics dance

is merely one

opportunity

of the many that

play within each

sacred moment

yes, the goal here

as the mystics dance

is a gleaming chance

to touch the place

in your raw heart

that serenely feels

uniquely you.

It is when you

come to know

this place intimately

that you will

feel your own heart

as part of a larger

more grand heart

of Sacred Unity.

Then the mystics say:

Al-Ahad.

Day 16 – Sacred Flame

The Reflections

It comes upon a reflection

– a past well lived to learn –

that a remembrance of truth

came to wash out my eyes

and then I can only see

the life engraved by light

and molded by time that

finally reveals the love

hidden by the shadows

of a fearful heart.

The shadows of a doubting heart

– a love lived only to learn –

with a remembrance of a life

that has long since passed

and then I can only see

a life engraved by promises

and molded by choices that

came to fruition to reveal

the man I am now, to light

the flame of my sacred heart.

Day 15 – The Sun And Moon

To Shine

The sun comes out to shine

and spread wide its warming arms

radiating it’s lasting smile

to stretch wide our hearts

Yes, the sun comes out to shine

not only on us, but through us

The moon comes out to shine

and reach out it’s gracious hands

reposing its intriguing smile

to open wide our hearts

Yes, the moon comes out to shine

not only on us, but in us

* based on the quote by John Muir: “The Sun shines not on us but in us.”

Day 14 – Then And Now

The Faces Of Love

In the vast distance

and from the peripheral vision

I thought I saw them

the languid and laudable

faces of love. The semblance

of a life in balance

mired in the deepest joys

these faces – the ones

with love seeping

out from their hearts,

hands, and eyes. Yes, I thought

I might have seen them once

in a distant past where I

was still to become who

I now am, and I think I

might – very possibly maybe –

be able to see those bruised and

bloodied bodies leaking love

still with a happy countenance

about them. Oh, to be part

of that select group, those languid

and laudable faces of love.

A day has come from the

imminent present and presented

a choice, one provided by

a moment’s breathe. A choice

to face the unknown and receive

life’s greatest gift or to shrink back

and live a life clouded in doubt

and regret. It came to me, and I

jumped, am jumping, and will continue

to jump towards that place where

I too will bare my scars in the

light of the sun, and hand my

bloody and raw heart out to be

trodden on in the name of

love. I too, carry an air of hope

and breathe in joy. I am a novice,

a new-comer to the group, I too, am

a member of those languid

and laudable faces of love.

A day will surely come

when you shall choose to either

join us or shrink back in fear

to live in regret. You too

will be given a chance, and

that is all it takes, one chance

– one decision that can be

made right now – ┬áto become

greater, more expansive. You

can breath in joy, and foster

your strength by becoming

more and more vulnerable, to

hold out your raw and still pumping

heart for the world to do as it will.

You will be given a choice to

surrender what or who you

thought you were to

become who you were born

to be – without those limits –

and then you will be a part

of the languid and laudable

faces of love

Day 13 – And The Universe Came

Peace Infinitely Torn

And the universe came in eternal form

to speak a message of peace infinitely torn

from the fabric of universal wisdom

to make whole the fractured sum

It was a call to be most sure

and as a fish to the lure

I hearkened to the speaking voice

that gives all who live a choice

Either to be content with your own being

or to awaken and visualize your eyes seeing

Become the valley of the universe, my friend

absorb and allow the waters to flow without end

Stand tall and be the mountain of the self love

stand amid the faces of doubt and raise them above

Yes the universe came in eternal form

to speak a message of peace infinitely torn

Day 12 – To Deserve

With Each Star

With each star peering

deep within my soul’s heart it

etched a meaning true

upon the glassy-smooth skin

forever leaving

a darkened mark seared into

the flesh of my bleeding heart

With your eyes searching

deep into my inner life

opening up the

sores that have yet to heal so

they can bare your light

gilded with sacred purpose

to let my lonely heart heal

With your heart feeling

deep within my universe

hoping to come to

rest in the cooling forests

that calm the busy

and agitated heart with

sacred breaths washing your soul

With each star peering

deep within my heart’s soul they

write a missive true

upon the soft gooey walls

to confirm a subtle truth

that our hearts already know:

“You Deserve Nothing Less Than Love”
